Water. Without it we will perish in about 3 days. We who are privileged to have it running from our taps without limit take it for granted. In a globalized world with so many technological advancements there are still 748 million people that live without access to clean water — every single day. We hear these kinds of horrific statistics but don’t have the capacity to do anything other than feel dismayed for a few minutes. What more can we possibly do? To start, we can begin to support the organizations that are making a difference to provide this most basic necessity to life.
Samaritan’s Purse is a relief organization passionate about providing physical and spiritual relief to hurting people. They are working to provide easy access to clean water, striving to bring positive, holistic change to impoverished communities. They do it by actively digs wells, installs filters, and implements life-saving programs.
Samaritan’s Purse believes that people thirst for more than just water. That’s why they also share the Gospel with those desperate for the truth only satisfied by living water. The living water that can only be found in Jesus Christ.
We have the capacity to make a difference wherever we are. This year for World Water Day, let’s partner with Samaritan’s Purse to provide clean water for 5,000 families. Together, we can pour into the lives of others in a way that satisfies more than physical thirst. Let’s step forward and make a difference. Let’s not put a limit on what God can do when we respond to his call.
