Wednesday Playlist: Spring Release

Here are some recent releases from around the web!

Turn Blue- The Black Keys

New music from The Black Keys makes everyone happy. With “Turn Blue” they do what they do best: rock and roll. There is a bit more synth than the trademark guitar riffs The Keys are known for, but I think it works well and still provides a great mellow track.

tUnE-yArDs- Waterfalls

After spending some time in Haiti to clear her head, Merrill Garbus of tUnE-yArDs is back with new music. The first single, “Water Fountain,” shows the band returning to form with a truly unique sound. What I love about Garbus is her fearlessness as “Water Fountain” sounds like nothing that is on the radio, but you are locked in, unable to stop listening to the combination of her voice, tribal sounds, and catchy lyrics that make you go, “did she just say that?” It’s different, but give it a listen. I promise it is worth your time!

The War on Drugs – Red Eyes

This is my first introduction to The War on Drugs but I have heard so much about them, I needed to check them out myself.  And I like what I hear. “Red Eyes” is simple and doesn’t do anything new or daring musically, but its done well — really well. I see this album being put on repeat in the near future.
